The First Justices' Forum, an event NCLA sponsored in December 2009 with the bar associations of Barnstable, Bristol and Plymouth Counties; Pilgrim Advocates and its regional legal services program partner South Coastal Counties Legal Services, was held on December 1, 2010, was held at the New Bedford Courthouse of the Probate and Family Department. The reception celebrated pro bono attorneys who have made a difference through NCLA's Pro Bono Project and Lawyer of the Day programs administered by Pilgrim Advocates in Plymouth County and by the Court in Bristol County. Following a lively discussion on limited attorney representation by First Justices Elizabeth O. LaStaiti, of Bristol Probate, Robert A. Scandurra of Barnstable Probate, Catherine B. Sabaitis of Plymouth Probate, and Associate Justice Virginia Ward of Bristol Country, approximately 60 attorneys were awarded the First Justice Award for Pro Bono Publico Excellence and had their photographs taken with the Justices.

Feeney, John Rao, Esq., and Stephen Shamban, Esq.

The recent "Practice & Procedure in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court" hosted by the New Center for Legal Advocacy (NCLA) was a huge success, bringing in over 40 new and returning attorney participants. The seminar, which focused on bankruptcy filing and procedure, was free to attend with the agreement to take on at least one pro bono case from NCLA throughout the upcoming year. These seminars are extremely valuable to attorneys who wish to learn a new aspect of the law or get a refresher course in an area of current practice
